Problems with high levels of pool chlorine in hot tubs
Share
The photograph (above) shows a hot tub jet that has been attacked by pool chlorine, the calcium residue left on the jet is an indication of how bad it is inside the piping. Using pool chlorine that contains higher volumes of calcium can damage you spa by causing calcium seizure of the pumps and heater.
The more aggressive chlorine will attack the jets, bottom of the cover and headrests resulting in expensive repairs. Pool chlorine is typically sold in buckets of 5Kg whereas spa designed chemicals are in no more that a 800g – 1KG tub.
